Cosmic Multicultural Bucharest in the Pandemic (2):
Moderating Dracula’s Fury
By Andrei Dorian Gheorghe (astro-photo-poem-essay) and Florin Alexandru Stancu (design)

The most famous Romanian brand is probably Dracula.
As an irony, that is not the ruler Dracula from the 15th century, but a fictional character: the vampire created by the Irish writer Bram Stoker in 1907 (whose name was given, in the meantime, to the most important award in horror literature).
In fact, the real Dracula (Vlad Tepes the Impaler) was a cruel champion of justice who stopped an Ottoman invasion through a night attack near the Capital City of Wallachia, Targoviste, in 1462, and made his princely residence in Bucharest, the current Capital City of Romania.
To honor his memory, King Carol I (of Romania) ordered in 1906 the remaking of Dracula’s Poenari Fortress from the Carpathian Mountains (now partially ruined) right in his park, in Central Bucharest.

On September 21, 2020 (the last day of the astronomical summer) I made a tour around Dracula’s new castle, trying to find the Sun in a favorable position.

“Today everybody in the solar system knows about
the moral dispute between the two Dracula!” -
the Sun told me.
”But now I just received the invitation
to moderate a celestial talk show
somewhere in the belt of the asteroids
between Bram Stoker representing the fictional Dracula
and the historical Dracula representing himself.
I still hesitate to participate there just because
I’m afraid of too much impetuosity on both sides!
Especially Dracula,
I suppose he will become extremely furious
and we would see a veritable medieval duel.
However, I have a solution to satisfy Dracula’s vanity:
to give his name to an asteroid!
But for this I have to wait for the approval
of the International Astronomical Union!”
