Cosmic Multicultural Bucharest in the Pandemic (11):
Next to a Chinese Gate
By Andrei Dorian Gheorghe (astro-photo-poem-essay) and Florin Alexandru Stancu (design)

On the morning of October 18, 2020
I saw a Chinese restaurant open in an old Bucharestian house, adorned with Chinese symbols and a traditional Chinese gate.
Its name, “Temple of the Sun”, moved my mind to the tragedy of the ancient Chinese astronomers Ho and Hsi, beheaded by their emperor in the 2nd millennium BCE because they were not able to predict a total solar eclipse.
I would say that my indignation about that imperial crime, along with the Sun just rising, put me on fire.

Fortunately, a bird announced me that,
Although I was burning when the Sun rose,
The Firefighters' Tower (a pride of Royal Bucharest)
Was very close.
