Cosmic Multicultural Bucharest in the Pandemic (330):
Astromix and SARM Commemorative Expedition 2022 (10)
By Andrei Dorian Gheorghe (astro-photo-poetical chronicle) and Florin Alexandru Stancu (design)
To remind us later of our expedition, we decided that, in addition to my pictures, Marian Niculescu would take pictures of Dan-George Uza and me next to the main graves of astronomers, which we found surprisingly modest compared to other funerary monuments. Including that of General Constantin I. Bratianu (1844-1910), who created the Military Astronomical Observatory in Bucharest in 1895, destined for geodetic and topometric measurements, and where King Carol I used to make astronomical observations.
(I have often wondered if His Majesty would have preferred to change his destiny from the greatest king of Romania to a simple professional astronomer.)
And finally, honoring the personality of Constantin I. Bratianu, I asked his spirit:
“General,
could you command the Sun to stay longer in the sky today?
This would be useful for our expedition!”
