Cosmopoetry Superlatives 2022 (4):
Astropoetry - Middle School Students
By Andrei Dorian Gheorghe

My first participation in the Spring Star camp of SARM, dedicated every year in April to the Global Astronomy Month, brought an amazing explosion of astropoetry (about which I should tell more in the future) in a complex astronomical program imagined by Valentin Grigore, which made the young Mara Maldin (15 years old) from Pitesti confess:

“During Spring Stars 2022 I found new passions, so I consider that I rediscovered myself.”

From the rich production of astropoetry written by the youngest participants, SARM chose two superlatives created by a boy from Targoviste and a girl from Ploiesti (both aged 14):

In the Dark Shadow
By Stefan Cristache

I look at the sky
from the darkness,
following the frozen moon
after which I yearn,

and I like it so much...
despite the darkness
everything is like a dream,
a cold but enchanted one.

A Heavenly Window
By Ana Ursu

Blinded by tears and the tormenting darkness,
I got in the way of the roots of an imposing oak,
falling on the dead leaves like a blanket of the earth,
when in the corner of my eye I saw a light.

I raised my head with hope and saw the heavenly paradise:
thousands of playful stars painted the sky
where the Milky Way crossed
like a heavenly window to another world.

To complete a Romanian top of astropoetry written by middle school students during 2022, SARM chose the creation of a girl (12 years old) from Brasov, composed at the “Perseids 30” event, which inaugurated the 30th year of SARM's existence.

Perseids
By Maya Pop

Just above the zenith,
the great Perseus shows himself.
and suddenly, as if by magic,
small flashes of light pass through the sky.

Fireballs and meteors fly in the heights
like agile acrobats,
These flying lights are awesome.
Could Perseus be a magician?
