NORTH STAR

In the year 28000 AD
I was called to celebrate
the end of another millennium
and the return of Alpha Ursae Minoris
as the North Star
(after Errai and Alderamin in Cepheus,
Deneb and Fawaris in Cygnus,
Vega in Lyra,
Rukbalgethi Shemali in Hercules,
and Thuban in Draco -
I haven't even listed them all).
.
-My dear friends -
I told the new lovers of the sky -,
you can't imagine what a great time I had
under the former dominance of Polaris!
But I was much younger...
