August Meteor Shower at the Belvoir (Kokhav HaYarden) National Park

Yesterday, the Night of Meteors and Stars event took place at the Star of the Jordan Fort in Israel.
The Star of the Jordan National Park introduces visitors to Belvar - a perfect Crusader fortress and one of its kind in Israel, overlooking the Jordan Valley and Gilead from the heights of the Lower Galilee. A footpath surrounds the fort and passes through Ein Hidid and the monument in memory of Ord Charles Wingate.
The event was sold out and 700 parking tickets for cars were sold to me and about 1500 parents and children from all over the country participated.

We set up three astronomical activities there in combination with tours of the fortress and creative activities for children.
The astronomical activities were:
Getting to know the sky, guiding the constellations and explaining the meteor shower.
Telescope observations of double stars and the planet Saturn.
A lecture accompanied by a presentation about the latest discoveries of the space telescope named after James Webb.
The activities were held until after midnight, after which the audience spread mats and mattresses and began to stare at the sky in anticipation of meteors.

The event has already become dedicated and many participants told me that they come again and again to experience the pleasant experience.

See you next year.
