Stars Stars Stars... Never-ending love for starry skies!

By Ravi Raja Pothineni posted 01-16-2023 13:36

When I was 7 years old, I started counting stars out of fantasy and used to fall asleep. Many times I used to count to 50 or 60 and miss my count and start again. But now, after two decades, I can barely see 50 stars in the night sky. It's an eye test for urban enthusiasts.

I am on a visit to my grandparent's village and tried capturing the night sky. Though the skies are not much starry as earlier when I was a child, far better than the city skies. Here are some clicks captured using my mobile camera only. Hope you guys like it!

That's true Andee! Being an Observational Astronomer, I feel terrible about this!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the stars. Light pollution has blocked the natural lights of stars in my region, too. It  is sad to think the only way we may ever see skies filled with stars is only through a photograph someone shared from a dark sky location instead of being able to go outside and see it with our own eyes.
