FUNDAMENTAL ASTRONOMY COURSE FOR AMATEURS

As part of Astronomy education and communication, I have designed a fundamental astronomy course for amateurs. The course started in August 2024 and will run for eight weeks on Sundays. I love teaching the Astronomy Enthusiasts from different backgrounds and age groups between 9 and 59.

The course comprises both Theory and Practical (Observation) sessions. Students make essential astronomical tools, including a model spectroscope, sundial, and sextant/quadrant. During the sessions, they are also introduced to handling various Telescopes and carry-out observation sessions.

I am open to suggestions and recommendations regarding this. Let me know if anyone is interested in delivering a short lecture online.

Fantastic initiative! It’s inspiring to see such a comprehensive course designed for astronomy enthusiasts across such a wide age range. The hands-on approach with tools like spectroscopes and sundials is brilliant for fostering practical understanding.

Is there any possibility for joining online sessions or recordings for those who couldn’t attend in person? I’d love to be part of this amazing effort if there’s a virtual option. Keep up the great work!
