What to Do With Those Glasses After the Eclipse?

It's the one accessory everyone will be wearing on Monday, April 8 but what you should do with those eclipse glasses when the party's over? Did you know solar eclipse glasses can’t be properly recycled in your curbside bin due to the mixed materials? Drop off your used glasses at the City's Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 20 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Gazebo and Clocktower Greens.

Collected glasses will be vetted for quality and then sent to Astronomers Without Borders for reuse at future solar eclipse events around the world. Any glasses that are damaged/not reusable will be taken to a local specialty recycler with the capability of separating the solar film from the paper cardstock. Thank you for helping us keep thousands of pairs of glasses out of the landfill!

If you're unable to drop off your used eclipse glasses on Saturday, April 20, visit these locations to have your glasses vetted through Sunday, April 21.

Also, be sure you are prepared for April 8.  Learn more about how to prepare for the eclipse by visiting www.hudson.oh.us/SolarEclipse
