Cosmic Multicultural Bucharest in the Pandemic (124):
Near the Vergu Atheneum
By Andrei Dorian Gheorghe (astro-photo-poem-essay) and Florin Alexandru Stancu (design)
January 15, 2022, Romanian Culture Day.
Morning Sun, Noon Sun, Afternoon Sun.
I tried a cultural expedition to see a sunset including the Moon in a square in which the first trade barrier at the entrance to Bucharest was created around 1700 by Vergu, a Greek-Romanian aristocrat.
In the 1930 the royal regime built a cinema-athenaeum here to raise the cultural level of the inhabitants of the area.
But after 1990 the athenaeum was replaced by another form of culture:
a casino for gambling.
Above the building
I saw the Moon hesitating to enter.
On the other side of the sky,
Jupiter noticed my disappointment
and also preferred to stay outside.
