Emmanuel Schwalb was born in Romania and is now an appreciated ophthalmologist in Israel.
He is also a volunteer in a program in which he restores the sight of cataract patients from poor countries, who thus have the opportunity to see the stars again.
In 2000, he and his wife Tatiana helped the SARM team (Valentin Grigore and me) in an expedition to the Holy Land (which included participation in NASA’s Leonid world workshop)…
in the name of friendship.

On October 11, 2022
he revisited his native country and we were happy to take a walk through the Carol Park (inaugurated in 1906)…
in the name of friendship.

Here we also noticed the picturesque discretion of the Astronomical Observatory of the Romanian Academy and the Romanian Technical Museum, hidden among the trees.

After talking about Romanian and Jewish traditions developed under the starry sky,
we stopped at the zodiac fountain (created in the 1930s),
and the Sun adorned himself with a tangent arc...
in the name of friendship!
