The 1st Asian Regional Shaw-IAU Workshop on Astronomy Education will take place in the beautiful Kathmandu Valley, Nepal, from December 19–22, 2024, at the Godavari Hall, Hotel View Bhrikuti in Lalitpur. This unique event is a significant step forward in enhancing the integration of astronomy into education across Asia.
Bringing Together Educators and Innovators
This workshop aims to unite National Astronomy Education Coordinators (NAECs), teachers, and educators from all over Asia. The primary focus is to explore innovative and practical methods for incorporating astronomy into classrooms and education systems. With a carefully curated program, the event addresses several critical aspects of astronomy education, including:
• Teaching Astronomy in Low-Tech Environments: Exploring how astronomy can be effectively taught using limited resources.

Highlights of the Program
Day 1 kicks off with a keynote speech by Dr. Aniket Sule, who will share insights into teaching astronomy in classrooms. Engaging sessions like “Game-Based Learning” and “Embodied and ICT-Based Pedagogies” will set the tone for the workshop.
Day 2 focuses on practical strategies, including group projects and teaching astronomy in low-cost environments. Sessions will be led by renowned educators like Ms. Manisha Dwa and Dr. Harvinder Kaur Jassal, ensuring participants walk away with actionable knowledge.
Day 3 delves into the integration of ICT in Astronomy Education, led by Mr. Suresh Bhattarai, and concludes with an excursion to explore the natural beauty and cultural richness of Nepal.
Finally, the Closing Ceremony will reflect on the learnings and experiences from the workshop while recognizing the efforts of participants and facilitators.
