Celestial Planet System
.
.
A system with a sun-like star
and giant exoplanets two
by telescopic gaze afar
was brought into our earthly view.
..
Three hundred light-years off from us
this multi-planetary scheme,
beyond fatuity and fuss
or machinations off the beam
..
devised by heedless human thought,
per happenstance or so I dream
has chanced, by evolution wrought,
upon a beingness supreme
.
of sensibility and sense,
on that telluric global sphere
within the universe immense,
where living lives are cherished dear…
.
But back to what the image shows,
they say stars similar are rare
with planets circling, though who knows
what wonders may exist out there?
.
How many systems like our own
or close enough in parallel
with worlds occurring in a zone
like Goldilocks where earthlings dwell
.
might present be, or were, or will
to ‘tease us out of thought’, wrote Keats,
‘as doth eternity’, apt still,
in one of his poetic feats?
.
Such queries spur our fancies from
a depth pedestrian of mind
when vexed by how to overcome
the woeful woes of humankind,
.
for vast beyonds in every realm
of inner, outer spaces may
emerge, so as to overwhelm
our current order of the day…

This image, captured by the SPHERE instrument on ESO’s Very Large Telescope, shows TYC 8998-760-1 accompanied by two giant planets, TYC 8998-760-1b and TYC 8998-760-1c. The two planets are visible as two bright dots in the center (TYC 8998-760-1b) and bottom right (TYC 8998-760-1c) of the frame. Other bright dots, which are background stars, are visible in the image as well.
