2024 Total Solar Eclipse in Arkansas

By Keith Sowell, PhD posted 03-20-2024 00:16

I have been back home in Arkansas vacationing for a few months now waiting on April 8th to come nearer in a few weeks. I am in London Arkansas, an hour west of Little Rock at a remote RV Park that is exceptionally dark except for 2 small light on the laundry and shower fasilities. With Coyotes yelping in the distance it reminds you of the wild nature of Arkansas. It is dark enough, and not like the big city lights I am used to in Florida. Just about all the campsites are reserved in the area including mine, and a lot of stargazers and eclipse watchers will be my company for a few days during that week. Ive ordered 20 pairs of filtered viewing glasses that also come with smart phone camera filters incase no one brought any with them and they can take them home as souveners of the 2024 total solar eclipse in Arkansas when they leave. My location is at the foothills of the Ozark Mountains to the north, and the Arkansas River to the south. I can be to either place in less than 30 minutes. There is good fishing and hunting areas with plenty of campsites in the Ozark National Forest and local lakeside state and federal parks.

I wish everyone clear skies and hope you make it to Arkansas for the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse.
