Saturn Moon occultation

By Michel Deconinck posted 08-25-2024 08:31

For this occultation, I want to sketch a long pastel of the IN/OUT band, the Moon portion of Saturn behind our Satellite.

Here the result (this is a low quality image)

I reach 1m50 for the sketch, maybe a record in AWB images ?

I also record a small video with more information about the method and the material:

Enjoy !

For the same event, I woke up at 04:30 AM CET, took my Maksutov (90mm) over 100 m from the building and completely failed to focus the telescope ( also because of spots in front of my left eye). I returned back, 45 minutes later with a 10 x 30 binoculars (stabilized) and this time I saw Saturn reappear.

During our next club meeting we recalled an earlier similar event: May 22 2007 in the evening and with a more inclined Saturn.

Many thanks for sharing your video, Michel.

Do you have any tips for others who want to learn more about skietching objects in the night sky?
