Friday january third. The Moon and four planets.

With my Canon EOS 100D and Samyang fisheye lens, I took a 20 seconds long pose at Gembloux, Belgium. There were clouds but sometimes it was clear enough.

On the left side, Mars was joining Gemini, Jupiter closer to the center, shared the sky with Orion, M45, the Hyades. Saturn on the right side was left to the Moon and Venus very close to each other, just before they set.  Tonight we missed the Saturn occultation by the Moon (very cloudy) but I did spot Saturn very briefly.

What a stunning capture! Despite the challenging cloudy conditions, you’ve managed to beautifully showcase the celestial alignment. It’s incredible to see Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn sharing the sky alongside iconic constellations like Orion and the Pleiades. The proximity of Venus and the Moon must have been a breathtaking sight! Too bad about the Saturn occultation, but spotting Saturn even briefly is a treat. Amazing work with your Canon EOS 100D and Samyang fisheye lens—this image truly brings the night sky to life!
