Protect the Night

Since 1988, DarkSky International has been a leading nonprofit working to build awareness and develop tools and solutions to address the growing problem of light pollution. DarkSky’s Senior Communications Manager, Drew Regan, will present an overview of the current state of DarkSky programs, emerging threats to the nighttime environment, and recent initiatives aimed at protecting the night.

Drew Regan is the Senior Communications Manager at DarkSky International, where he leads communications efforts to raise awareness and advance solutions to light pollution. Before joining DarkSky more than two years ago, Drew spent over a decade as an interpretive ranger with the National Park Service, including at Grand Canyon National Park and Mesa Verde National Park.

At Mesa Verde, he helped lead the park’s certification as the 100th International Dark Sky Park, designed a mobile visitor center and dark sky laboratory, and supported the creation of the park’s first Indigenous Ranger Internship Program. Drew holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley, and has a background in environmental education, community engagement, and visual communication.
