Watch LIVE: Venus - Pleiades Cluster Conjunction

Starts:  Apr 10, 2023 12:00 (UTC-11)
Ends:  Apr 13, 2023 00:00 (UTC-11)

Join our partners at Virtual Telescope Project for a livestream of this beautiful event on April 11 as it appears through telescopes in Rome, Italy and other locations around the world.

An hour after sunset look for a picture perfect pairing of two celestial jewels, planet Venus and the Pleiades star cluster posing together.  Venus will be easy to see with the naked eyes as a brilliant star-like object high in the southwestern evening sky. Then use binoculars to reveal the tight grouping of nearly a dozen stars near the planet. The cosmic pair appear separated by just over 2 degrees - equal to the width of four moon disks.  From a dark, unobstructed location, away from light pollution, you should be able to spot the dazzling cluster with your unaided eyes. It’s amazing to think that while Venus lies only 9.3 light minutes away, the Pleiades sits 444 light years from Earth.
