Cosmic Multicultural Bucharest in the Pandemic (423)
An Astronomical Pilgrimage (1)
By Andrei Dorian Gheorghe (astro-photo-haibun) and Florin Alexandru Stancu (design)
On December 16, 2022, during bad weather, nine elite members of SARM (including the founding president, Valentin Grigore, and the coordinator of the Bucharest branch, teacher Delia Motoc) and the astronomy editor of the magazine “Science & Technique” (Catalin Beldea) came to the Municipal Astronomical Observatory for a pilgrimage to the busts of Victor Anestin (115 years after he founded the first Romanian astronomy magazine) and Admiral Vasile Urseanu (the founder of this observatory in 1910), which turned into a friendly, informal, year-end meeting with the five observatory staff members.
On this occasion, SARM gave some of my books as awards for the whole activity to some of those present at the pilgrimage.
Step by step:
-Catalin Beldea was awarded for stand up astronomy.
-There were moments of meditation in memory of the amateur astronomers of the past.
-Adrian Bruno Sonka (the observatory coordinator) joined the group for a picture next to the sky map.
-Delia Motoc asked Adrian Sonka for an autograph on his book “A Walk through the Universe” and enjoyed a work of astroart created by some inmates in a penitentiary.
-Dan Mitrut was awarded for his complex astro-artistic activity and celebrated for his birthday…
Despite a rainy weather,
sky lovers can make
a sunny evening!
