ABOUT A LIVING ASTRONOMICAL THESAURUS
By Andrei Dorian Gheorghe
.
.
‘I used a drill to add some more stars to my planetarium and made a solar clock even
from a television antenna.’
(Dimitrie Olenici, creator together with his family of a unique ethnographic astronomical
complex in Horodnicul de Jos, Romania)
‘Dimitrie Olenici is a living astronomical thesaurus.’
(Cosmin Sorin Miclos - founding president of the Astronomer Disciple Association)
.
Using your country yard:
to make an astronomical observatory
painted in the colors of the Romanian flag
in a small island on a rivulet…
to install a planetarium
improved by yourself…
to create a museum
of astronomical ethnography
including handmade sundials,
thousands of calendars,
icons, painted eggs,
fabrics and many other objects…
to improvise even
a wooden Table of Time
with an obelisk on a round table
with chairs and ancient signs…
.
all this means
to walk through the Universe
in your own garden!
