AMERICAN ECLIPSE 2024 - A SARM  ANTHOLOGY OF ASTROPOETRY (1)

By Andrei Dorian Gheorghe

.

In April 2024, the Romanian Society for Meteors and Astronomy-SARM (president Valentin Grigore) and the travel company ROTEAMTOUR (led by Dan Moldovanu) carried out an extraordinary expedition in the USA, which started in Dallas, passed through 10 American states, Washington DC and southern Canada (Toronto), and ended in New York.

The main objective was the total solar eclipse on April 8 (which was observed from three different locations).

To crown the brilliance of the expedition, SARM later produced an anthology of astropoetry (which I will reproduce in three parts) by members of the expedition and other Romanian astropoets interested in the phenomenon.

Night in full day

Moon in full Sun and, of course,

Life in full Universe

TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE SUN IN 2024

By Valentin Grigore

The radiance of the Universe

perfectly aligned with

the shadow under which

millions of people look at

the unseen light

in the light.

ECLIPSE 2024

By Boris Marian (Mehr)

I'm in an eclipse - said the teacher

who, sipping a coffee,

could not shout “Eureka”.

But I thought of

a recent eclipse

that even crossed America!

MY EXPERIENCE IN AMERICA, WITH SARM

(essay with poetic corollaries)

By Erik Culescu

I am 17 years old and I am passionate about astronomy, physics and robotics.

I am a member of SARM and in this context I had the privilege of being part of the group that left Romania to participate in the eclipse 2024 expedition in SUA, held between April 6 and 26.

Corollary: Three weeks that I will never forget, during which I felt like I was in an internship dedicated to my personal and professional development.

The solar eclipse of April 8, observed from Dallas, was not only a cosmic spectacle, but also a symbol of my inner journey.

Corollary: It was the moment when time seemed to stand still and the sun and the moon danced in a celestial ballet, leaving me with a deep sense of wonder and belonging.

The following days were just as full of discoveries.

Visiting the NASA Space Center in Houston and meeting astronaut Steven Swanson added layers of inspiration and aspiration to my space career.

Corollary: Closely observing the procedures and technology, I felt that every step I took was a step towards fulfilling my dream.

The impressive launch of Elon Musk's Falcon 9 rocket was another proof of what humanity can achieve when passion and perseverance meet.

This was followed by attending a conference on space exploration, where I had the privilege of sharing and debating ideas with experts in the field.

I returned to Romania with a burning desire to bring change, to share what I learned and to inspire other young people to follow paths of knowledge and exploration.

Corollary: Through these lines, I hope to convey not only the echo of an unforgettable experience, but also to ignite a spark of hope and determination in the hearts of all those who, although they feel limited by their current circumstances, dream of reaching the stars.

25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ECLIPSE FROM ROMANIA

By Luminita Tudor

So much time has passed since

I received a gift from my favorite uncle

named Andrei Dorian Gheorghe!

In the package, the smoked glasses amazed me,

they were so different and completely special.

And my uncle told me

on which day and at what time

they could be used.

Being a dreamy child,

I saw through them how in the sky

the glorious Sun changed,

taking on his royal clothes

a dark cloak only for a short time.

An eclipse like a fairy tale

remained in my memory.

Adventure in real time,

set in a special place.

DURING THE GREAT ECLIPSE OF 2024

By Andrei Dorian Gheorghe

-Comet Pons-Brooks,

why don't you also shine brightly next to Jupiter?

- From an ophthalmological point of view,

the darkness of the eclipse

is not good for comets,

but only for planets!

LITTLE TREATISE OF A MINI-ECLIPSOMAN

By Alec Bartos

Two means more.

We do not include ourselves among specialists,

but we compare ourselves to them.

It's hard to understand a star,

to be a poet is a real disaster,

to have a Muse... it's a gift from above.

Like the chances in life,

Mr. Sun rises, chooses, awakens, burns, dies...

you care straight in your azimuth!

You would like us to write poems

about something we cannot say.
