2024 Total Solar Eclipse in Arkansas Update

By Keith Sowell, PhD posted 03-27-2024 22:59

In a little over a week we will see the Total Solar Eclipse in Arkansas. We are having a small  event with 19 campers at a local RV Park in London Arkansas where I am staying for thge eclipse. I will be setting up a table and possibly a commercial event tent for my telescopes and in case the weather changes or to get in out of the heat. It should not be a problem and we hope it is still cool and sunshiny at least until the eclipse is in its totality. I purchased extra sunshield glasses and will give out free signed certificates of participation as momentos. I am looking forward to seeing everyone  who will be coming to the event and hope their experience will plant the seed to become new amateur astronomers and join us at Astronomers Without Borders as members and learn about the facinating science of astronomy. I will report back with the results of the eclipse with hopfulley some pictures as our location is directly under the centerline of where the Moon and Sun will travel during the eclipse. I can hardly wait to see ring and the suns solar flairs streaming from behind the Moon. I hope to get some good shots and post them on this site in another blog. Clear Skies!
