Cosmic Multicultural Bucharest in the Pandemic (16):
On the Lascar Cartagiu Boulevard
By Andrei Dorian Gheorghe (astro-photo-poem-essay) and Florin Alexandru Stancu (design)
“The pandemic has blocked my dreams for a while: no travels around the world, no excursions in my country, no participation in astronomical events, no lessons of astro-humanistic creativity for young students, no camps for the observation of the sky… I feel like the historical buildings are replacing the classical stars. How much do we have to wait?” –
I thought in a sunny day (November 11, 2020), when I walked among superb houses on the northern segment of the Lascar Catargiu Boulevard (named after an important Romanian politician from the 19th century), famous for its Art Nouveau buildings made in the 1900s, along with building the Admiral Vasile Urseanu Observatory here - a magnificent architectural style created in the 1880s in Belgium, which exploded in France in the 1990s, at the same time as the construction of the Meudon Observatory in a suburb of Paris.
I felt like Venus
without any mane
between a space wall
and a cold airplane.
